There are still spots available to volunteer TOMORROW at the San Francisco Food Bank.  To register, please fill out the City of San Mateo Volunteer Application at www.cityofsanmateo.org/volunteer.

NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM
If you are a returning student and you participate in the National School Lunch Program and receive free or reduced brunch and lunch, you need to reapply by September 23rd or the system will automatically drop you and you will not be able to get food.  You can go to the District website and apply online.  Although you still have time, it is better to get this done sooner than later!

TODAY’S FEATURED SCHOLARSHIP
The 2014 Elks Scholarship contests are officially underway!  The Most Valuable Student and Legacy Awards applications are now available online.  All details can be found at www.elks.org. **Special Event**:  An Elks Club committee will provide a one hour workshop to help fill out the application.  If interested in attending the workshop, please RSVP to membership@sanmateoelks.org with the subject line “Scholarship Workshop”.  This workshop is being held on Friday, September 12th, from 5:30-6:30pm.  There will also be a Family Dinner Open House that you can attend after the workshop.  The cost for dinner is $13.00 per person.  See Mrs. Fenech in the Career Center if you need additional help with this scholarship.

PSAT SIGN-UPS
Reminder for sophomores and juniors!  This is the week to register for the PSAT.  See Mrs. Fenech in the Career Center today!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM MR. FREIBERG

  • Detention begins this week.  Detention is held in the Cafeteria on Wednesdays and FridaysToday’s detention time is 12:30-1:30pm.  If you are late, you will not be admitted.  Failure to serve assigned detentions will result in double the detention, parent contact and possible Behavior Contracts. Do the right thing and get your detentions served the first time!
  • Parking:  Reminder!  All students with vehicles that are parked on campus without a VALID SMHS PARKING PERMIT will receive disciplinary consequences.  That will involve loss of parking privileges, detention, parent/SMPD notification and Student Behavior Contracts.  Get your permits and display them correctly!
