WASC Action Plan update, SPSA Goal and LCAP Alignment              4:10-4:30pm
One day visit next spring
Local control accountability plan (LCAP)
Our WASC plan is aligned with LCAP
LCAP is the district’s plan for spending moneys, formerly known as categoricals
                  No categoricals next year.
Schools now petition district to use these funds, we have to make petitions align with LCAP
We have to document how we spend funds to better meet the needs of our struggling students and to improve instruction.
We need to collect evidence about afterschool programs for example, to show that they are helping support students if we want to keep programs running.

  • Work in groups from February meeting
Meeting to update 3 WASC action plans
    Notes by groups…

ELAC Recommendations                                                                    4:45-4:50pm
ELAC is English Learner Advisory Committee, representing EL 1-2 through Long term ELs
Attendance has fluctuated over the years, Parent reps are hard to find.
5 Recommendations

Cafeteria—food is important for many EL students—specific recommendations made: offer whole fruits and organic foods, replace mushy pasta…  We’ve checked with cafeteria.  Organic won’t happen because of cost, pasta we get is free, so that won’t change either.  Whole fruits can happen sometimes.  We can’t serve white pasta because of California rules—have to use whole wheat that does disintegrate.  Changing it will take a lot of work…any ideas?

Academic Support:  more counselor attention, more graduation information and college admissions information is needed.  More support for ELs in advanced courses is needed, perhaps coinciding with our EOS work.

Teacher communication—email and personal communication is preferred.  Phone system is hard to work

College Counseling—Make college counseling easier to find, weekly table out in the quad, evening meetings with parents

Asian Parent Group—start new group?  Organization and translation resources requested.  Unsure if there is momentum for this group.

Not a discussion item at this time, more an information item.

New from Departments and Representatives                                  4:50-5:00pm
Sophomores—Underclassmen Night- March 28 is showing Frozen in the quad
Juniors—have t-shirts happening.  Class president is taking care of it.
Freshmen—Nothing new
Senior—Prom is going on.  Prom asking contest ongoing, guest passes due soon.  Prom Fashion Show later in the week, big reveal
Art—Art Show in the Library
Counselors—did Crocker scheduling, 50 are assigned here, 25 scheduled today; potentially a large cohort coming here next year.  If we know anyone who’s going private school, let people know so we can move people in off our wait list.
Design Tech High School—has enough students to go, got to work on a place to be, drawing most of the students from out-of-district
Peninsula Alternative High School—Board Meeting scheduled this week to make recommendation has been cancelled; they are looking at a new property perhaps?

Adjournment at 5:00pm
