A Message from Ms. Shiu regarding:  African American Students’ Day at Hewlett Packard
If you are interested in attending African American Students’ Day at Hewlett Packard, please see Ms. Shiu for a packet.  You must have at least a 2.0 GPA and complete the field trip packet.  Each school in the district is limited to 5 spots.  First come, first served. This is a great opportunity to look at job opportunities within the company.

CAHSEE Countdown:  7 days until the California High School Exit Exam for ALL 10th Grade Students -
Sophomores, we have a little over 1 week left to get ready for the CAHSEE Continue to review the CAHSEE Study Guides and ask your teachers if you have any questions.  Get plenty of exercise, rest, and eat nutritious foods to prepare for the test. You can pass the test!  Again, are you ready?

A Message from Mr. Boise
This Friday is Course Preview day which provides you an opportunity to learn more about classes you may choose to take next year. During Tutorial on Wednesday all 9th, 10th and 11th graders will identify course presentations they are interested in attending. Then, on Friday course previews will occur instead of Tutorial for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. During course previews 12th grade students will go the gym for the senior panoramic photo and important spring semester announcements. We will be on a slightly modified schedule for Course Preview day, please check the website or signs in your teachers' classrooms for details. 

Extended Library Hours:
The library is now open Monday to Friday.  If your printer ran out of ink and you need to print out a paper, if you need a warm, well-lit place to study for that test, stop by the library!

A Message from Mrs. Torres regarding CSF – California Scholarship Federation:
CSF starts Tuesday, January 20th.  Applications can be picked up in Mrs. Torres office, (Counseling Office).  Last day to turn in applications is Saturday, January 31, 2015.

Every year The San Mateo Rotary Club offers our students a generous scholarship! Seniors who will be attending a 2 year community college or a 4 year university are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. Scholarships are based on academics, general citizenship and financial need. Please see Ms. Paige in the career center to learn more.

Sports Announcements:

Attention Baseball Players: A Message from Head Coach - Nick Sanzeri:
Baseball tryouts begin Monday, February 2 through February 4, afterschool. All players trying out for JV will meet by the batting cages. All players trying out for Varsity will meet in the dugout on the main baseball field. Your physical must be done and medical clearance turned in. Players who are not medically cleared cannot tryout.   Any winter sport athletes please contact the coach and will be given their 3 day tryout after the winter season is over.

A Message from Matt the Trainer:
Swimmers’ must all complete their concussion testing on this Friday the January 30, after school in the C lab in order to play this season.

Softball tryouts start next week for JV and Varsity. Meet on the softball field Monday, Feb 2nd at 3:30 to 5. Update: NO winter workout this Wednesday; get on the field and throw the ball before try outs!

A Message from Mr. Friedman:   WINTER MUSICAL TICKETS ON SALE!
Our winter musical, URINETOWN, opens this Friday, Jan. 30, and plays for the next two weekends. Tickets are on sale in the Quad during lunch Wednesday through Friday of this week and next and at the PAC box office before each show. Students may purchase unreserved seats for $5.00 by showing their student I.D. card. Regular reserved seating costs $15 for students/seniors and $20 for adults. Come support SMHS Performing Arts at this hilarious musical!

A Message from Ms. Fergusson:            Go Mock Trial!
Our Mock Trial team will be competing at the South City Courthouse for the next three, Tuesday nights:   Tonight, Jan. 27, Feb. 3, and Feb. 10. 
Prosecution will be competing at 5:30 (against Mills, Half Moon Bay, and Jefferson) and Defense at 7:30 (against El Camino, South City, and Oceana) on those nights. 
Everyone is welcome to come watch these events. The courthouse is at 1050 Mission Street in South San Francisco. Once inside, look for the courtrooms where Team "B" is competing. That's us.
