Are you interested in attending African American Students’ Day at Hewlett Packard? You must have at least a 2.0 GPA and complete the field trip packet. Limited space - only 1 spot left. Scholarship of the week
Every year The San Mateo Rotary Club offers our students a generous scholarship! Seniors who will be attending a 2 year community college or a 4 year university are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. Scholarships are based on academics, general citizenship and financial need. Please see Ms. Paige in the career center to learn more.
Next Tuesday on February 10th the College of San Mateo will be speaking in the Library here at San Mateo High School, If you are planning to attend or if you are interested in attending the College of San Mateo, Cañada or Skyline please go down the career center to pick up your pass and learn more! The Presentation will take place during 3rd period, students attending a 2 year college post high school are highly encouraged to attend.
Attention all Juniors-
You are invited to attend "Junior Information Night", hosted by the College advisors and counselors. We will be discussing post-secondary options and what a junior needs to do to prepare for college. It will take place on February 10th at 6pm in the Library here at San Mateo High School. A Spanish translated version will take place in the career center during the event. Hope to see you there! Attention African American Students!
Skyline College will be hosting a Brothers and Sisters Conference on February 26th! Topics will include; making College affordable, having a personal plan, career options and setting you up for college success. Breakfast, lunch and transportation will be provided. Please see Ms. Paige in the career center to learn more.
The San Mateo freshmen boys basketball team beat mills by a score of 43-42. Jake Jefferies led the team with 14 points and 12 rebounds while making the last 2 free throws with 3.2 seconds left to we the game.
Concussion testing make up day:
Concussion testing make up day will be on Monday, February 9, 2015 immediately after school in the C Lab. All athletes need to take the concussion test in order to participate in spring athletics.

PROJECT NUMBER ONE: The SMHS Drama department is joining forces with the AP Environmental Science class on a project that will conserve thousands of gallons of water a year! Project Number One will raise funds to replace every urinal at our school with modern waterless facilities. It’s the (waterless) wave of the future, folks, and San Mateo High is going to be there first! Check out the display table in the lobby during every performance of URINETOWN and please bring your dollars and change to donate. Help us be flush with funds so we can end flushing at Mateo! Contact Mr. Friedman/Appleman with questions.
