Congratulations to Janani!
SMHS is proud to recognize that Janani Krishna-Jha has won a National Award for her personal memoir entitled "Trishanku's Heaven." More than 300,000 works were entered for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards this year, and Janani's essay was in the top 1% of the nation. As a national award winner, Janani is invited to attend the award ceremony at Carnegie Hall in June, and her essay will be exhibited in cross-country tour around the United States.

Friday, March 20, 2015, 7 – 10 pm @ SMHS-Small Gym. Students may purchase tickets at lunch in the quad or in Room A145. Students who attend will receive extra-credit in their Spanish classes!

A Message from the Career Center
The College of San Mateo will be speaking in the Library here at San Mateo High School next Tuesday during 5th period. Students who are considering going straight into the workforce after graduation and/or have undecided majors please see Ms. Paige in the career center as this will be a workshop that you do not want to miss!

Middle College, a high school program for juniors and seniors at CSM, is accepting applications for Fall 2015. The application deadline is Wednesday, March 25. Congratulations to JV Softball who beat Mills Monday 8-0. Emily McHugh hit a grand slam and pitched a shutout. Nancy Arevelos had two hits in the Bearcats league win. Congratulations Ladies.
Come Support the Grad Night Committee
The International Food Fair will be held this Tuesday, March 24 from 5:30pm-7:30pm in the Small Gym. Foods from around the world will be sold, with prices ranging from $1-$5. We have entertainment lined up with student groups performing music and dances from Mexico, the Philippines, China, Polynesia and India. If you're unable to stay the evening, we will offer a 'To-Go' Special Menu with selected entrees. More information will be sent later.
