WASC Mid-Cycle Review Report                   Mr. Boise                                3:45-4:00pm

Review of 3 main items of today’s visit.  WASC committee said not to expect surprises in their report.  The parent committee took note how positive are our school climate and culture, as well as that of the community at large.   This was also confirmed by the WASC group.  We will continue the work that we are doing.

Enrollment, Outreach and Scheduling           Mr. Boise                                4:00-4:15pm Counselors are finishing their scheduling this month. There are no scheduling advantages to seeing counselors earlier in March than late this month.  Counselors have visited all middle schools.   Fall 2015 Frosh enrollment anticipated to be slightly higher than Fall 2014.

Every 27.5 new students enrolled, we tend to hire a new teacher.  This is a district decision.  Junior level is ballooning. New hiring is possible, if enrollment increases. Line item courses (special support classes) are in addition to 27.5.  EL population growing; projected to grow next year.

By fall 2015 new classrooms and the FLEX construction should be completed.

8th grade sign-ups March 17 and March 19.  Renaissance, Leadership, Avid, WL will be present to facilitate their enrollment

Review of ELAC Recommendations              Mr. McKenzie                         4:15-4:30pm

ELAC has met 4 times so far this year; will meet in April and May as well.

Goals are to engage parents in trying to get their child to succeed in high school and to continue on to college.  Nancy Chavez, our outreach person, contacts all concerned parents.

How to use our resources to better improve our program goals especially concerning nutrition, parent participation, increased counselor support.  To date ELAC has achieved better level  of nutrition in cafeteria, and one full-time ELAC counselor.  Recommendations:  continue to increase communication with the home.  The ELAC tab on our web site needs more regular updating for parents’ ready use.
